Good Not-Baby-Related News!

After many months of dealing with the insurance company, pulling permits and delivering paperwork to the city, and working with contractors, yesterday we finally had people out at the house working on the sinking corner. For those who don't know the story, one of the front corners of our house has been sinking fairly rapidly since January (measured in inches, but still causing cracks and damage to occur inside and out). The solution is to put four pilings under that corner, fill them with grout, and thus jack the house back up. (This is a small-scale rendition of what was done to Circle Community Church a few years back.)

Yesterday, they came and tore up some of the front walkway and carport and put in the pilings. As I understand it, they'll come back within a few days to fill them with grout, then a few days later to adjust the arms and then hopefully we'll soon be done with this aspect. We plan on tearing up the rest of the cement in the carport, repouring, and enclosing that area into a room soon.

I'm going to try to post a picture of what that outside corner looks like now - it looks awful to me, but it's all part of the process, I'm sure. Anyway. :)

I guess your baby decided not to listen to me. I was telling him/her that yesterday was a very good day to be born.

It's very nice to see Grandview photos, even if they're only the corner of a house. :-)

And it's also wonderful to "hear" Aunt Steph's familiar "voice." Hee hee.

Aunt Steph reminds me of Mrs. Piggle Wiggle. ;-)

What are you going to do for entertainment when you can no longer watch pencils roll across the floor?
