The Birthday Weekend

Friday, September 14, 2007 (the actual birthday)
Iain had a pretty rough day - poor naps, fussy, etc. Kate came over in the afternoon to watch him so I could get dinner ready. Nan and Iain's three aunts (Kelsey Jenna, and Haylee) joined us for dinner. Nona (my mom) was sick and couldn't make it. The birthday dinner? Spaghetti, of course!

After dinner, Iain opened some presents from the family.

On Saturday, we had family and Iain's buddies over for a backyard party. The weather cooperated and everyone seemed to have a good time. I made an itsy-bisty spider cake, and everyone sang that song to him (with motions of course) before singing happy birthday.

We had toys and baby pools set up, as well as a swing and a slide.

Cutest one-year-old around!

Uncle Phil and Kelly came to visit, and brought Sanford along. Iain had a great time playing with Kelly, being read to by Uncle Phil, and poking at Sanford. The funniest moment came when Phil told Sanford to sit and Iain quickly obeyed.

Whew! It was quite a busy weekend. And what is it about his head these days that he thinks is so funny?

Wow! He looks incredibly big and toddler-ish! Happy birthday, Iain!

What a big guy! I agree with Phyllis on the toddlerish appearance.

It cracks me up to see Zach doing itsy-bitsy spider. You'll have to hold on to that when he becomes famous. ;-)

Is your birthday near mine or Glenna's?

Wow! Allie, he's SO cute! I see you walk by a lot when I'm visiting but I haven't seen him up close in a while. He's always been adorable, but I think he keeps getting cuter!!! Hope you all had a great summer!
